Overview
Cashdy is for people who find finance apps overwhelming. One big number shows every day how much is left this month and what you can spend today. No bank login, no account, no jargon. The app is available in German only.
What it does
- One big number. “Left” and “today”, plus a little coin that shows how it's going.
- Expenses in seconds. Tap plus, amount, category, done. Also via widget, quick tile or app shortcut.
- Payment detection. When PayPal, DKB or Google Wallet report a payment, Cashdy suggests it. One tap adds it.
- Fixed costs. With price history: when a subscription goes up, past months stay correct. Yearly costs are spread out.
- Receipts and statements. Total, shop and date are read from receipts offline. A CSV statement finds rent, subscriptions and salary.
- Backup. To a file or your own Nextcloud. Nothing else goes online.
Installation
- Download the APK from GitHub releases and install it.
- On first launch, enter income and fixed costs. The number is ready after that.
- Optionally allow payment detection, only for the apps you choose.

How it's built
Kotlin with Jetpack Compose and Material 3. Receipt recognition runs on the device with ML Kit. Notifications are only read from apps you allow, everything else is dropped immediately. Cashdy has no server and no account.

- Receipts: Text recognition now uses Tesseract, free software running right on your phone, with the accurate German model. Google ML Kit is gone, no usage data goes to Google anymore. Reading takes a few seconds.

Cashdy 1.0.0: the first major version. Every day Cashdy shows you how much money is still free this month. Free of charge, no ads, no bank login, your data stays on the phone. The app is in German.
New since 0.0.4:
- Check your balance („Kontostand prüfen“, under „Mehr“): type in what your banking app shows. Cashdy tells you whether it matches. If not, it looks for the entry that explains exactly the difference, for example a payment marked as cash that actually came from the account. Otherwise you can add or settle the difference. „Neu anfangen mit Kontostand“ (start over with a balance) is there now as well.
- Cash check: if you have more cash than expected and there is a cash entry with exactly that amount, Cashdy asks whether it maybe wasn't cash after all.
- Cash or account: when adding an entry you choose „Konto / Karte“ (account / card) or „🪙 Bar“ (cash); cash entries are marked „🪙 bar“ in the lists.
- First month: what has come into the account since the start is now called „Seitdem reingekommen“ (received since). „Kommt noch rein“ (still to come) only shows when money is really still expected.
- Month: the month switcher stays at the top while scrolling.
FAQ
- Do I have to connect my bank account?
- No. Cashdy works without any bank login.
- Where is my data?
- Only on the phone. The optional backup to your own Nextcloud is the only thing that goes online.
- What does Cashdy cost?
- Nothing. No ads, no subscription.
